To be eligible to the NYSS program, a stallion must be registered with the Fund for the breeding year. To be registere,d the stallion must stand the entire stud season in New York. Stallions enrolled for the designated breeding season must be standing for stud service on the designated farm not later than January 1.

Foals produced by semen transported and inseminated in mares inside or outside of New York State will be eligible for nomination in the New York Sire Stakes Program. Foals resulting from mares bred outside of New York State are ineligible for the Excelsior and County Fair Series.
